Horang Nanaimo Review
Whether you’re looking for a sit-down meal or something quick to take home, this place has you covered. Here’s why.
Horang Restaurant + Bar Ambiance
Don’t let the fact that this restaurant is in a parking lot fool you – once inside, the vibe is all there.
Immediately I was impressed by the ambiance of the space. The room is designed with a very cool lounge kind of style.
As I followed the server to our table I quickly glanced at people’s meals while passing by and everything looked so good!
Horang Menu
First off, let’s talk food. Horang’s menu is like a love letter to Korean cuisine, but with some cool, modern-day updates that make it super fun to explore.
You’ve got all the classic Korean dishes you’d expect, like kimchi and bulgogi, but they’ve also thrown in some surprising elements that make each dish feel fresh and exciting.
The most important thing to mention is that there are many vegan options on Horang’s menu. 5 stars to the owners just for that!
Dining Experience
Let’s talk about what it’s like to actually eat at Horang. From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with this warm, hipster yet inviting vibe that makes you feel right at home.
The whole place has a modern yet cozy design, which just adds to the overall experience. And whether you’re there for a casual lunch or a fun night out, the vibe is always spot-on.
As an important factor in this review, I’m happy to say that Horang offers lots of vegan menu items. And everything is priced very reasonably.
The fusion of flavors here is on point – it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to order a bunch of things to share just so you can try it all.
Fortunately, there are soban lunch specials, which give you a big tray of multiple dishes to try.
I had the Vegan Soban which included yangyum crispy cauliflower (similar to chili cauliflower nuggets) on rice, sweet potato twigim (similar to tempura), crispy vegan mandu dumplings, yuza salad, and Japanese noodles.
My 7-year-old son had the rainbow mini kimpap (3 vegan kimbap rolls, stuffed with pickled radish, yubu, cucumber, carrots, vegan mayo, inside pink rice paper). Plus a burger and fries.
My Vegan Soban was delicious! And my kid loved his meal too. He said it’s 10/10 and now Horang is his favorite restaurant in Nanaimo!
Horang Market
Now, if you’re more of a grab-and-go person or just need a quick snack, Horang has you covered with their very own market.
It’s like a little treasure trove of Korean goodies! They’ve got everything from snacks to frozen items and even some house-made treats that you can take home.
It’s perfect for when you’re on the run but still craving something delicious. Plus, the takeout experience is super smooth, so you won’t have to wait long to dig in.
Location & Accessibility
Horang is located right in the heart of Nanaimo, making it super easy to find. And bonus – there’s plenty of parking as the spot is located in a big parking lot, so you won’t have to circle the block a million times looking for a spot.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s totally worth swinging by.
As I say, it’s right in the heart of everything, so whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a convenient stop.
Plus, they’ve got pretty accommodating hours, so you can pop in for lunch, dinner, or even just a quick snack.
Horang Nanaimo Review – Conclusion
Alright, to wrap it all up – Horang Korean in Nanaimo is a gem. The food is seriously delicious, the prices are very reasonable, and the vibe is just right.
I’m already planning my next visit, and trust me, once you try it, you will be too. It’s one of those spots you’ll keep coming back to – a total win in my book.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll be telling all your friends about it after your first visit. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the market section – you’ll definitely find something to bring home.
Horang is located at 6367 Hammond Bay Rd Nanaimo, BC.
